Feast by the fire and brighten your spirit during a cold winter night at the Apollonian Hotel at Boreen Point.
Besides Apollonian Hotel’s dining room fireplace that allows you to keep your toes warm while feasting on fine food, its spit roast lunch on Sundays remains the favourite and most popular among visitors and locals. Their wood-fired spit-roast is prepared in Apollonian’s rustic bush kitchen and complemented by hot potatoes and large platters of salad.
Apollonian Hotel was constructed during the 1870’s at Apollonian Valley in Gympie. It was later moved to the gorgeous Boreen Point village in 1987 on Lake Cootharaba’s shores.
All 3 ½ acres of the hotel is surrounded by rainforest gardens, rolling lawns and waving palms. Expect to be charmed by the hotel’s old elegance, colonial past, open fireplaces and cool verandahs.
A shady beer garden is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon whilst watching live entertainment.
Trip Advisor Senior Contributor “montagueclarke” has been to Apollonian Hotel and describes it as a “relaxed, casual, beautiful setting.”
“…The relaxed atmosphere combined with great value spit roast and reasonably priced wine and beer made the whole evening a very special night. The garden setting was perfect for the wedding service under the lovely fig tree with flowering bouganvillia and Poinciana tree for a background. The availability of reasonably priced holiday home accommodation within walking distance was a major plus.
Thank you Lu and staff. It was a great night.”
Trip Advisor Senior Reviewer “Jette_from_Oz” announces Apollonian Hotel as having the “best spit roast ever!”
“The Apollonian Hotel is a beautiful, historic old pub that was rescued and relocated from Gympie to Boreen Point, within walking distance to peaceful Lake Cootharaba. The building has lovely wide, bouganvillea-shaded verandahs overlooking a grassed area, ideal for a game of french cricket or kids to run around and play.
They have nice meals during the week, but the spit roast for Sunday lunch is the real winner! The meats are cooked and served buffet-style, outside in a rustic, Australian-style corrugated iron shed. There are picnic tables in the courtyard, sheltered by a huge fig tree whose spreading branches are a favourite with kids, or you can sit on the verandah or inside. The meats and salads are delicious and the plate piled high.
There's usually live music to enjoy as well, Very popular with locals and tourists alike, only 15 minutes' drive from Tewantin-Noosa…Highly recommended for a nice Sunday drive and lunch.”
